A Good Wife Turns Bad (STORY) -- Part 2

This is a story about how a young couple blindly gets into what is termed as one chance marriage and, as a result of their carelessness, they mess up everything.

With too many divorce stories flying around in the social media these days, the once honourable institution of marriage is being gradually turned into a playground for absurdities by many young couples.

SCENE OPENS TO THE INTERIOR OF ADEWALE AND AMANDA'S HOME - DAY

Adewale and Amanda are in their beautifully furnished living room, talking about their day.

ADEWALE
(grabs her by the waist) Sweetheart, I can't believe it's already one hundred days since we got married. How time flies.

AMANDA 
(looks into his eyes) Yes o, my baby… you're right. And I can say that this has been the best one hundred days of my life. I feel so happy being your wife, my super cute Ade.

ADEWALE
(hugs her) Thanks for bringing joy into my life, Amanda. I love you morning, afternoon and evening.

AMANDA
(kisses him passionately) I love you too, my Ade.

FADE OUT.


SCENE OPENS TO MR. DONALD'S MASSIVE OFFICE - DAY

Amanda is seated close to a man named Mr. Donald. He is a rich Civil Engineer, he is married with kids but always has his eyes on pretty young ladies, both singles and married.

AMANDA
(in a calm voice) Eehm, Eehm, Pease Mr. Donald I don't really like the way you're close to me. You know that I'm somebody's wife. Please go back to your seat, I don't want my husband to hear anything o.

DONALD 
(smiling) Keep calm, Amanda. You already know that I want you. So why act as if you're a little girl? Just give me a chance and I promise to pamper you with a lot of cash, I mean a lot of money. I will certainly treat you more better than your working-class husband.

AMANDA 
(tries to move away from him) Please Mr. Donald, I came here to submit a fresh proposal because you said you like the uniforms I made for you workers and not to sleep with you. Please I love my husband, and I can't cheat on you.

DONALD
(brings out a wrap of cash) I understand you, baby girl. But I need you to know that I am a man of action. I don't talk too much.

He offered Amanda the wrap of money with a mischievous smile.

DONALD
Just take this One Hundred Thousand Naira for the stress... Then come and meet me later by 4pm at Bunking Hotel, room 222. And I will give you another One Hundred Thousand Naira as soon as we're done.

AMANDA
(takes the money) Are you for real, Mr. Donald? Hundred Kay for me?... Just like that?

Amanda puts the wrap of money in her hand bag with excitement written all over her face, as she hugs Mr. Donald tightly.

DONALD
(laughs in victory) You don't know me yet, Amanda. Well, like I said, I will give you another Hundred Kay later today. Just do your best to make me happy in bed this evening.

He grabs her by the shoulder and plants a kiss on her forehead.

FADE OUT.

SCENE OPENS TO THE INTERIOR OF BUNKING HOTEL, ROOM 222 - DAY

Amanda is giving Mr. Donald a romantic teaser, in preparation for what took her to his hotel room.

AMANDA 
(stops the romance) Please Mr. Donald, I hope you know we have to be fast about it? I must be home before 7pm. That's when my husband will get home from work. And I don't want him to suspect anything, please.

DONALD 
(confident) Why don't you relax your mind, Amanda, and allow me pamper you? That young man you call your husband can wait for all I care. And if he tries anything funny, I will take you away from him completely.

Amanda gives him a seductive look, goes under the duvet and pours herself and Mr. Donald some wine.

DONALD
(winks at her) So, baby girl, do you like it with the lights off or we should make them a bit dim?

Amanda signals him to come to bed, she reaches to a switch by the bedside and puts off the light. She and Mr Donald spent the evening doing what brought them together in room 222.

FADE OUT.


SCENE OPENS TO INTERIOR OF ADEWALE AND AMANDA'S HOME - NIGHT

Adewale walks into the bedroom to find his wife, Amanda, sobbing. He walks over to her and sits beside her.

ADEWALE
(worried) Hey, my love, what's wrong? Why are you like this?

Amanda refuses to answer him, even as she continues sobbing. Adewale's face is filled with concern and he puts his arm around his wife, trying to comfort her.

ADEWALE
(presses further) Darling, please talk to me. You know I can't stand seeing you like this. What happened?

Amanda finally sits up, looks at Adewale and takes a deep breath…..

AMANDA
(teary-eyed) Ade, oh Ade my love… I have something to tell you. Please can you forgive me? I will tell you, if you promise to forgive my mistake.

ADEWALE
Forgive you? Ok, what exactly did you do?

Amanda looks at Adewale as if she wants to speak but breaks down in tears again… Palpable tension fills the room.
